We believe true beauty whispers, it doesn’t shout. For our second chapter, we set out to create the purest, most distilled expression of the A1 — an exercise in reductive design, where elements are stripped away to reveal the essence of an idea.

The dial begins with a vertically brushed base, followed by the engraving of contrasting triangles with a hand-guided precision tool. Finally, three layers of black lacquer are applied on top. This creates a surface that shifts between smooth gloss and sharp two-tone contrast, inviting continual rediscovery.

The watch’s rounded triangular form is inspired by Charlotte Perriand’s free-form tables, Constantin Brâncusi’s modernist sculptures, and the organic softness of river stones — creating a form that is both striking and inherently harmonious.

The A1's rounded triangular form was inspired by a Charlotte Perriand free-form table from the 1950s, which we discovered in a Parisian antique gallery a few years ago.

“It was love at first sight. On the wrist, it embodies a piece of art awaiting attraction and admiration.”

Roni Madhvani – Collector

Dynamic Energy

The case and dial opening are formed by two overlapping triangles, creating an asymmetrical design.

Shifting the dial opening to the right gives the shape a dynamic flow, alternating between thinner and broader sections — an idea inspired by a Brâncusi sculpture where an abstracted bird appears to take flight.

Natural Form

The case is designed to feel like a river stone, made smooth and round by the erosion of time. It does not feature a single straight line.

The mirror polished case bends and bounces the light in playful and unexpected ways, altering its appearance based on the different angles and lighting conditions.

Sculptural Details

To preserve the sculptural feel of the watch, the strap integrates directly into the case, through two slender openings on either side.

The crown is also recessed into the case, helping to maintain a sleek and uninterrupted silhouette from most angles. An aperture at the back makes it easy to access and operate the crown.

“The A1 is a breakthrough and unconventional piece made by someone who not only knows watches, but also has a deep knowledge and love for them.”

Alex Ghotbi — Collector, Head of Europe and Middle East at Phillips Watches

Layered Lacquer Dial

The dial invites continual rediscovery and subtle appreciation. Its vertical brushing, contrasting engraved triangles, and triple-layer black lacquer create a dynamic play of smooth gloss and sharp two-tone contrast.

Domed Hands

The leaf hands feature an exaggerated curve and profile, to echo the organic lines of the case. They are laser cut for precision, then curved, to achieve their distinctive shape.

Hidden Details

The A1 has many small, hidden details. For instance, the inside of the caseback has a "perlage" finish, achieved by applying multiple circles, one at a time, with a rotating metal tool.

Even if hidden from view, we believe that these minute choices influence the quality and energy of the object.

How does it wear?

The A1 was carefully designed to be as comfortable as possible, on all kinds of wrists. The case measures 39mm by 39mm, but it wears closer to 37mm, thanks to its triangular shape, lack of lugs and hidden crown.

The case is 9.45mm thick, but the bottom 3mm curve inwards, allowing them to disappear into the wrist when the watch is worn. This makes the A1 wear even thinner than its dimensions would suggest.

Due to the soft, rounded profile of the case and the wrist bone holding the watch in place, the tip of the triangle at 3 o’clock does not cause any discomfort.

The circumference of the wrist in photography is 16.5cm (6.5 inches).
