We’re producing 300 numbered watches, each paired with a matching artwork. These will ship in November. Non-numbered pieces will follow later. Price excludes local duties and taxes (see FAQs).
The A1 is all about distortion. Its sculptural case bends light and reflection, subtly reshaping the world around it. The A1 Optical takes this distortion even further, with an engraved dial inspired by Optical Art, an artistic movement that transforms simple geometric patterns into captivating illusions.
The dial plays with proportion, perspective, and depth. Fifty subtly offset triangles are engraved into the dial, one by one, using a sharp tool dragged across the metal base. The surface is then sandblasted and gently hand-polished to achieve our desired level of reflectiveness.
Since the watch is inspired by art, we decided to collaborate with optical artist Adam Fuhrer on a companion piece, which reinterprets the dial pattern. The first 300 watches (150 in copper and 150 in silver) will be individually numbered and paired with an artwork bearing the same number.

Our Inspiration

The watch's rounded triangular shape was inspired by a 1950s free form table by Charlotte Perriand. We first came across one in a Parisian antique gallery a few years ago.

We were also influenced by the organic softness of river stones and the dynamism of Constantin Brancusi's modernist sculptures.
Together, these references helped shape our vision of a form that feels both striking and instinctively pleasing.

The engraved dial is inspired by Optical Art, an artistic movement that transforms simple geometric patterns into captivating illusions.
We were particularly drawn to the work of Bridget Riley, Ferruccio Gard, and Marina Apollonio.

“It was love at first sight. On the wrist, it embodies a piece of art awaiting attraction and admiration.”
Roni Madhvani – Collector

Sculptural Form
The case combines two overlapping triangles, deliberately offset to create a sense of movement and tension between thick and thin sections.
To focus on the purity of the forms, we concealed any distractions by hiding the lugs, crown, and any other superfluous details.

Hypnotic Dial
Fifty subtly offset triangles are engraved into the dial, one by one, using a sharp tool dragged across the metal base.
The surface is then sandblasted and gently hand-polished to achieve our desired level of reflectiveness.
As light moves across the dial, it redirects like an electric current, creating an unpredictable visual rhythm.

Subtle Details
The A1 is filled with subtle, hidden details that reflect our dedication to refinement at every level — from the shaped buckle to the perlage finish on the inside of the caseback.
Even if hidden from view, we believe these minute choices influence the quality and energy of the object.

Artist's Print
Since the A1 Optical was inspired by art, we decided to collaborate with optical artist Adam Fuhrer on a companion piece.
The pen-plotted artwork takes the pattern from the dial, then gradually distorts as it radiates outward. It is a visual expression of the tension between order and disorder.
The first 300 watches will be individually numbered and paired with one of these matching pieces.

“The A1 is a breakthrough and unconventional piece made by someone who not only knows watches, but also has a deep knowledge and love for them.”
Alex Ghotbi — Collector, Head of Europe and Middle East at Phillips Watches
How does it wear?
The A1 was carefully designed to be as comfortable as possible, on all kinds of wrists. The case measures 39mm by 39mm, but it wears closer to 37mm, thanks to its triangular shape, lack of lugs and hidden crown.
The case is 9.45mm thick, but the bottom 3mm curve inwards, allowing them to disappear into the wrist when the watch is worn. This makes the A1 wear even thinner than its dimensions would suggest.
Due to the soft, rounded profile of the case and the wrist bone holding the watch in place, the tip of the triangle at 3 o’clock does not cause any discomfort.
The circumference of the wrist in photography are 16.5cm (6.5 inches).
